Julius Cavendish is a British journalist writing about conflict in the developing world. He began his career covering international business law before joining the foreign desk of The Times of London. Between 2008 and 2011 he lived in Afghanistan reporting on the war, Afghan politics and the fortunes of ordinary Afghans caught up in world events. The following year, he was one of the few western journalists to cover Mali’s military coup firsthand, reporting on the turmoil in Bamako and subsequent disintegration of the north. He has worked for major US and international media including TIME, The Economist, the Independent, the Christian Science Monitor, the Times, the Daily Telegraph, the National, CBC, CNN and France 24 among others.
