Julius Cavendish is a British freelance journalist. Between 2008 and 2011 he lived in Afghanistan reporting on everything from the war and Afghan politics to the fortunes of the country’s cricket team, Afghan TV and the absurdities of the western intervention. The following year, he witnessed Mali’s military coup, covering firsthand the turmoil in Bamako and subsequent disintegration of the north. He has worked for major US and international media including TIME, The Economist, the Independent, the Christian Science Monitor, the Times, the Daily Telegraph, the National, CBC, CNN and France 24 among others.
