Julius Cavendish is a British journalist. He began his career writing about international business law before joining the foreign desk at The Times. Between 2008 and 2011 he lived in Afghanistan reporting on everything from the war and Afghan politics to archaeology, TV shows and the absurdities of expat life in Kabul. The following year, he was one of the few western journalists to cover Mali’s military coup firsthand, reporting on the turmoil in Bamako and subsequent disintegration of the north. He has worked for major US and international media including TIME, The Economist, the Independent, the Christian Science Monitor, the Times, the Daily Telegraph, the National, CBC, CNN and France 24 among others.
